CEF Burial Registers - "Died of Wounds - While following with the Regimental Aid Post Staff in rear of his Battalion during an attack on the Village of Fouquescourt, on August 10, 1918, he was hit in the head and body by shrapnel from a shell which detonated on the side of a trench just above him. His wounds were dressed immediately and he was evacuated to No. 49 Casualty Clearing Station where he died two days later."
