Original overseas Unit: 13th Canadian Mounted Rifles. Joined the P.P.C.L.I. in the field October 16, 1916. Killed at Vimy Ridge April 9, 1917.

Son of Mr. Arthur Dingwall and Mrs. C. R. Beutlich Millar (nee Cameron), of Crawford Bay, British Columbia. Born at Edinburgh, Scotland.

Note Michael: the official history of the P.P.C.L.I. by Ralph Hodder-Williams (1923) states that he was killed in action on April 9, 1917. This is more or less corroborated by Stephen K. Newman in his book "With the Patricia's Capturing the Ridge, Vimy Ridge April 1917", published in 2006, page 93: " Reported killed in action during the assault on Vimy ridge 9 Apr 1917. Hit in the back by a piece of shell just after passing the craters in the in initial assault. Died of wounds later in the day at the dressing station."

His burial registration reads:

Date of Casualty: 9/10-4-17This soldier was hit in the back with a piece of enemy shell just after leaving the craters on the morning of April 9th. He succumbed to his wounds shortly afterwards at the Dressing Station.
Uploader's Research notes:

Date of death posted on Commonwealth War Graves Commission states between 9/4/1917 and 10/4/1917 which indicates he was missing in action. National Archives of Canada have a second reference file for him - RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 6179 - 23.
