Uploader's Notes: In 1901 son Albert was living with his Mother Matilda Edwards in the home of his grandfather with Aunt Margaret Kay in Manchester England.On 2 April 1909 a 13 year old Albert Edwards leaves Liverpool on board the Virginian that arrives in Halifax Nova Scotia on 9 April 1909 with other British Home children with intransit destination Belleville Ontario. In 1911 a now 15 year old Albert Edwards is living as a Labourer in the home of Eliza and Richard Vance of Manvers Durham Ontario.On 10 April 1916 Albert Edwards joins the Port Hope based 136th Canadian Infantry Battalion and sails for England on 25 September 1916. In England the 139th Battalion is broken up and Private Albert Edwards leaves the 39th on 6 October 1916 and becomes part of the 87th Reserve Battalion in the field on 15 November 1916.Former Home Child Private Albert Edwards is killed during the Attack on Vimy Ridge on 9 April 1917.
