The war diary states that this man was killed in Victoire Crater by rifle fire during preliminary operations one day prior to the Vimy Ridge offensive. This man is also mentioned as a Major in the war diary. The Circumstances of Casualty form gives his rank as Lieutenant.
Details of Death
He was in charge of one of the four parties from this Battlaion that made a raid on the enemy's trenches in the "Labyrinth" at Vimy, in the early morning of April 8th. 1917, and was instantly killed by enemy machine gun fire while crossing "No Man's Land."Uploader's Research notes:
