Uploader's Research notes:
John enlisted into the 27th Battalion, "D" Coy., on 24th Oct 1914 and fell on 6th April 1916. He stated on attesting he was a member of the Active Militia, 34th Fort Garry Horse (6 weeks).
His brothers George (29299) and James (29300) enlisted together into the 16th Battalion at Valcartier soon after war broke out. Serving in "D" Coy., both died in the Ypres Salient on 23rd April 1915. The three brothers have no known grave and are commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing.
