Uploader's Notes: Son of James E. and Annie R Price of Port Williams, Kings Co., Nova Scotia. Private George Lawrence Price is believed to be the last soldier to die in battle during the First World War. He died at Mons, Belgium, about 3 minutes before the Armistance. He was originally buried in Havre Old Communal Cemetery then moved to St. Symphorien Military Cemetery, Belgium, near Mons, in the same plot as Lt Maurice Dease - one of the first VCs of the war - and close to the grave of the first British solider killed in France and Flanders, Pte J. Parr of the 4th Middlesex. The Circumstances of Death report indicate that he was killed by a German sniper. He was shot through the right breast and died shortly after being hit. Private Price took shelter in a house and the occupant told him to be careful. Price proceeded from the house and was shot. There is a memorial plaque on the house nearby, erected by Canadian veterans on 11 November 1968, 50 years later.
