Attached to Canadian Base Depot on landing in France on October 14, 1916. Joined the 8th Battalion in the field at Guoy Servins. From November 21 to December 04, attended the First Army Trench Mortar course.

Reported Missing in Action following the attack on Hill 70 near Lens. His "Circumstances of Death" card noted that he was hit directly by an artillery shell. On March 05, 1918 he was declared for all purposes to be Missing presumed Killed in Action on August 15, 1917.
