Uploader's Research notes: Details of death from Ancestry.com which includes a digitized image of the casualty form from the "Canada, War Graves Registers (Circumstances of Casualty), 1914-1948” database [Private Army Canadian Infantry 78th Battalion Sailed with the 78th Battalion aboard the SS Empress of Britain, May 20/30, 1916. The battalion trained at Bramshott before proceeding to France with the Fourth Canadian Division on August 12/13, 1916. Killed by a gunshot wound to the head at Vimy Ridge. His body was recovered and buried, but the grave could not be positively located later. ]
