According to a newspaper article dated May 1st, 1917 (see his Virtual Memorial record for the original), Briscoe had been an employee at the Canada Foundry in Toronto. He had gone overseas with two sons. Both sons were wounded. Briscoe also had four brothers serving in France.
Briscoe had formerly served with the Liverpool police in England for 15 years prior to his immgration to Canada.
Son of Christopher Ellershaw Briscoe and Sarah Ann Briscoe (nee Brayshaw); younger brother of Gamaliel Briscoe (Service No. 1037961) and older brother of Frederick Henry Briscoe (Service No. 1037965); husband of Elizabeth Gill Briscoe (nee Gill) married August 15, 1911
