Educated at Marlborough College and Selwyn College, Cambridge; went to Canada to study law, called to the Bar in 1912.

Enlisted in 67th Battalion at Victoria, British Columbia, September 11, 1915, serving 5 months as Reg. no. 102487. Enlisted in 172nd Battalion at Vancouver, British Columbia, March 25, 1916. Discharged May 24, 1916 to take Commissioned Rank May 27, 1916, serving with 172nd Battalion but not sailing with unit on October 25, 1916. Served in France and Flanders.

Killed in Action leading an attack near Lens.
