The 18th Battalion sailed aboard SS Grampian from Halifax to Avonmouth, April 18-29, 1915. The 18th was posted to West Sandling Camp, Shorncliffe, on arrival.

September 14/15, 1915 the 18th Battalion proceeded to France as part of the 2nd Canadian Division, from Folkestone to Boulogne.

He was killed in action at Courcelette on October 02, 1916.
