Uploader's Notes:

Son of the late John William and Annie Mary Taylor of The Bell Foundry, Loughborough, Leicestershire, England. B.Sc. (London).

In the CWGC site this man is shown as dying on the 5th September 1916. However in the war diary he is listed as being killed on the 15th September 1916 in the advance from Pozieres to Courcelette during the Somme offensive. The battalion were behind the lines out of danger on the 5th September 1916 and there is no report of any casualties on the 5th September. He is also shown as being commemorated on the Vimy Memorial which means his body was never found which would seem unlikely if he died whilst in a safe area. I believe it is a mistake that he is listed as dying on the 5th September and it was in reality the 15th September he died during the advance.

Uploader's Research notes: Info from the war diary and the attestation papers. This man is on the CWGC site. [Private Army Canadian Infantry 66th Battalion Private Army Canadian Infantry 31st Battalion C ]
