Son of George Henry White and Mary Ann White (nee Kelly)

His father's birth record suggests that his name was 'George Henry White Shaw', but records are inconsistent, and Robert Henry does not appear to have used the surname Shaw. It should be noted that George Henry White's father's name was 'George Henry White' (senior) and his mother's maiden name was 'Jessie Shaw'. It is possible that through the convolution of transcription of names over the generations that 'Shaw' was somehow incorporated into the name of some of the sons and grandsons, but did not trickle down as far as Robert Henry White

Service No. 402430 was also issued to George Bowyer, who attested in the 34th Battalion April 10, 1915 but was not with the 34th Battalion long enough for anyone to notice the duplication of Service numbers because he transferred to the 71st Battalion on October 24, 1915
