Son of William and Mary Jameson of Eppleby, Yorks, England.

Joined the P.P.C.L.I. in August 1914 [an original].

Previous military experience stated on Attestation as being 1st York Volunteers (8 Years) and 1 Year in the Winnipeg Grenadiers.

At the time of his death the PPCLI were one of five battalions serving in 80th Brigade of 27th Division of the British Army. There is a memorial to the stand made by the PPCLI in defending the front line on the Frezenberg Ridge in front of Bellewaerde Lake (Hooge) just outside Westhoek to the East of Ypres.
