ROLL OF HONOUR
The dread message came to Sheriff McPherson Monday morning that his oldest son, Pte. J. D. McPherson, had been killed in action. This young hero was only 20 years of age, and has been overseas about a year. He joined the University, 196th Battalion, and spent the summer of 1916 at Camp Hughes, and left for England in November of last year. He spent two years at Vermillion Agricultural College and one at Strathcona, and took great interest in agricultural studies. His younger brother had a pleasant visit with him only a short time ago. He was in the machine gun section of the 46th battalion when he was killed.
