Uploader's Notes:

Son of Frederick and Bertha Hamilton Peters, of Prince Rupert, British Columbia. (Mrs. Peters moved to England to be near her sons during the war and later moved to Nelson, BC to live with her daughter.) Brother of Frederick Thornton Peters, VC, who served with the Royal Navy during the Second World War and died on November 8, 1942.

Gerald's father Frederick was formerly Premier of PEI and later worked as a lawyer in Victoria, BC. Fred took the position of City Solicitor in the new city of Prince Rupert and the family moved there. Adult sons Jack and Gerald worked at two different banks in the city and both enlisted shortly after war was declared.
