Commemorated: Inscription on the reverse side of his parents grave marker in the Alix, Alberta Cemetery says: Private Sidney E. Smith, Born, Oct.28, 1898 and died Oct.30, 1917, Killed in Action.

Note - His birth year on his Attestation was stated as 1897. He was actually only 17 years old when he joined up and 19 when he died. Two days after his 19th birthday.
