[Private Army Canadian Infantry 56th Battalion A Company Sailed with the 56th Battalion aboard SS Baltic from Halifax to Liverpool, April 01-09, 1916. Private Army Canadian Infantry 10th Battalion Proceeded to France on being posted to the 10th Battalion. After arriving in France this posting was cancelled and he was posted to the 15th Battalion. He did not report to the 10th Battalion. Private Army Canadian Infantry 15th Battalion C Company

Joined the 15th Battalion at Connaught Lines near Ypres on June 06, 1916. December 03-09 was attached to the 1st Division Bombing School for instruction.

December 28, 1916 was attached for Forest Duty at La Motte-au-Bois, De Nieppe. Ceased to be attached on June 17, 1917. The following day he was attached to the 1st Forestry Company, Royal Engineers. October 12-23 was granted leave to England. He ceased to be attached on returning from leave and rejoined the 15th Battalion at Staples, Belgium on October 26.

On March 21 he was wounded by shell gas near St Emile and evacuated to 1st Field Ambulance. He returned to duty on March 27.

On April 05 the battalion was moving out of the Arras Caves to move to support trenches. He was wounded in the head by shrapnel at the mouth of the cave. He was evacuated to the 8th Casualty Clearing Station. Four days later he was transferred to the 2nd Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, where he died of wounds on April 11, 1918.
