Albert Simpson's actual age is questionable as it is between 1884 and 1889 and both years are used on his Military Files. Albert Simpson Ashton left Liverpool England age 13 or 16 on 29 March 1900 on the ship Dominion by the Fegan Distribution Homes and arrived at Halifax Nova Scotia on 8 April 1900 for destination the Fegan Distribution in Toronto. On 15 March 1915 31 year old Iron Moulder Albert Ashston attests in Montreal in a Field Artillery unit saying he had 4 years experience with the 3rd Manchester Engineers. On 18 Jan 1916 he arrives in France and is rotated or transferred to a number of Artillery Units until he ends up with the 5th Brigade of Canadian Field Artillery in September 1918. On 12 September 1918 former Fegan Toronto Distribution youth called British Home Child Gunner Albert Simpson Ashton is killed in action.
