Son of Mrs. D. E. Johnston (formerly Lines), of Victoria, British Columbia, and the late Edward Lines. Panel 6. Col.

The 19th Battalion were part of the 4th Canadian Brigade. Their objectives in the battle were to take the front and support German lines and then to take the Black line of the attack. At this point they were relieved by other battalions which came through them to take the red line.

This man is the brother of John Lines 180264 who apparently survived the war.

Uploader's Research notes:

Info from the attestation papers, the 19th Battalion war diary and this man is on the CWGC site.
