Daughter of Mark S. and Sarah M. McKay, of Galt, Ontario.

Globe and Mail death notice states she died in No. 3 Canadian General Hospital on November 4th at Boulogne, France in her 26th year of broncho-pneumonia. She was the youngest daughter of Mark S. and Mrs. McKay of Galt.

Evelyn McKay was born in Galt, Ontario, and was the only Nursing Sister to appear on the Galt Ontario War Memorial. Photos of the memorial are on her record at the Canadian Virtual Memorial.

Nursing Sister McKay's photo appeared in the Toronto Star on November 8th, 1918. (See her Virtual Memorial Record to view this photo).

McKay was a graduate of Grace Hospital, Toronto. Her obituary in the Toronto Star (see C.V.M.) indicated that Evelyn was well-known in Toronto. She served for one year at Toronto's Base Hospital (Gerrard St.) at at the Canadian Exhibition Camp. She went overseas in 1916.
