Cori Leigh Matheson-Landry Charles' father was Jacob Young Mersereau who was mayor of Chatham and also a well known photographer. I have posted a picture of JY Mersereau in my photos section of this site. There is a picture also of his home. He married twice. First to Carrie A. Whittaker who died quite young. Within a year and a half of their marriage she died while skating on the river, she fell through a hole in the ice and drowned on December 22 1879. He later married Florence Steeves and she would be the mother of Charles.
