Uploader's Notes: In 1911 Charles Owen was a 15 year old Inmate at the Elstow School in Kempston Bedfordshire England.On 4 March 1914 a now 17 year old Charles Owen is sent from Liverpool by The National Children s Homes and Orphanages on the Ship Canada that arrives in Halifax Nova Scotia on 15 March 1914 for final destination Hamilton Ontario. On 1 December 1915 a 19 year old Charles Owen joins the Lindsay Headquartered 109th Canadian Infantry Battalion at Lindsay. In the Spring of 1916 this Battalion that had recruited from Victoria and Haliburton Ontario Counties was in England and broken up. On 9 April 1917 former Home Child Private Charles Own of the 20th Canadian Infantry Battalion (1st Central Ontario Regiment) is Killed in Action in a battle for Vimy Ridge.
