Uploader's Notes: Arthur William Shackelford in 1901 was living in Hertfordshire with his father George mother Rose(Lee) Shackelford 3 younger Siblings and 4 others.In 1903 his Father George Shackelford dies at 32 years of age.On 8 April 1910 a 14 year old Arthur Shackelford leaves Liverpool on the Empress of Ireland and arrives in Saint John New Brunswick on 15 April 1910 with a party of Fegan Homes children destination Toronto. Arthur now 15 years of age is a Domestic or Servant in the home of Roy and Florence Bryant On 29 Nov 1915 a 20 year old Arthur Shackleford joins as an original member the 109th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Lindsay after having had 1 year of service with the 34th Ontario Regiment militia.(The 109th Overseas Battalion was authorized on 22 December 1915). On 23 July 1916 the 109th Victoria and Haliburton Infantry Battalion sails for Britain and is broken up between 5 October and 8 December 1916. On 9 April 1917 former Home Child Private Arthur William Shackelford now of the 20th Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment) is killed in Action.
