John Henry Clynick emigrated to Canada arriving at Boston Mass on 11 March 1913 on the ship Ascania with his wife and 5 Children. He was a Boilermaker in 1911 living in Brighton Sussex England with 5 of 6 children at home. His former wife was Elizabeth Owen (born 1846-died?) who he married in 1864. John Henry Clynick married Annie Elizabeth Mulley in Devonport (Stoke Dameral Devon) England on 15 December 1891. John Henry Clynick was a soldier with the Berkshire Regiment from 1885 until 1897.

There is no CEF Service file for John Henry Clynick who served with the Canadian Army Service Corps in Ottawa until his death on 22 July 1917 from internal injuries in a truck accident on 17 July 1917. He stopped his truck to avoid hitting 2 children but was struck from behind by a Bank street street car near the Ottawa Exhibition Grounds. John Hernry Clynick was buried in Beechwood Cemetery Ottawa on 25 July 1917. Wife Annie Elizabeth (Mullay) born 6 June 1868 died in her 87th year on 5 March 1951 and is buried with her husband in Beechwood Cemetery Ottawa.

His son John Stanley Clynick was born 25 March 1895 in Davenport Devon England. He like his father enlisted in the CEF in Ottawa as 536136 Private John Stanley Clynick and died he 11 December 1963 and is buried in the Beechwood Cemetery Ottawa.
