Served as a sniper during the war. Others thought that he was indian, a persona he had created when he emigrated to Canada.

Wounded twice: January 1916 and April 1916.

Listed on the Nominal Roll of the 40th Battalion.

More commonly known as Grey Owl. A famous conservationist, posing as an Indian and witing about conservation issues long before others. After his death (April 13, 1938) he was exposed as a white man, seriously hurting the early conservaion movement.

Was actually born in Hastings, England. Emigrated to Canada in 1906.
