Born 15th February, 1896, at Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada. Father, W. M. Hill, Life Insurance Agent. Educated at Winchester Public School, and Jarvis Collegiate Institute. Entered the service of the Bank, 20th September, 1915. Enlisted, 1st April, 1916, from Gerrard & Pape, Toronto, branch, in 201st Canadian Battalion, with the rank of Private. Transferred to 198th Canadian Battalion, September, 1916; 19th Canadian Battalion, February, 1918. Principal actions: Arras, March-June, 1918; Amiens, Arras, August, 1918; Mons, November, 1918. To Germany with Army of Occupation. Gassed, at Arras, 28th August, 1918. Demobilized, 26th May, 1919.
