Born 15th February, 1896, at Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada. Father, W. M. Hill, Life Insur­ance Agent. Educated at Winchester Public School, and Jarvis Collegiate Institute. Entered the service of the Bank, 20th Sep­tember, 1915. Enlisted, 1st April, 1916, from Gerrard & Pape, Toronto, branch, in 201st Canadian Battalion, with the rank of Private. Transferred to 198th Canadian Battalion, September, 1916; 19th Canadian Battalion, February, 1918. Principal actions: Arras, March-June, 1918; Amiens, Arras, August, 1918; Mons, November, 1918. To Germany with Army of Occupation. Gassed, at Arras, 28th August, 1918. Demobilized, 26th May, 1919.
