On the CWGC site this man is listed as army no. 69699 however on the attestation papers he is listed as 696990. In the Canadian Archives 69699 comes back to a Fred MacDougall. The CWGC site also lists his next of kin as the same on the attestation papers and so it must bne the same man.
The cemetery this man is buried at was used by various clearing station around the time he was listed in the war diary as wounded. Therefore it is highly likely that he was evacuated from the battle field when wounded to the clearing station and died there which is about 10 miles from the battle field,
