Uploader's Research notes: King's religion is listed as Christian Scientist. 60th battalion War Diary for 12 August 1916 indicates Germans began a heavy shelling of front lines occupied by 60th,then attacked postions held by 60th. Casualties were considerable:2 officers and 26 other ranks killed. Attack was repelled and battalion was praised by Corps,Divisional and Brigade commanders for its defence of their front line sector.
