2050 - Welland Canal Force, 19th Lincoln Regiment

Son of John and Elizabeth O'Connell, of Kent, England; husband of Jeanette O'Connell, of 1237 Thorold Rd., St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Enlisted with two of his sons, James Thomas O'Connell Jr #158655 and John William O'Connell #159698. Initially enlisted in the 81st Battalion Central Ontario. In June/July 1916 transferred with about 390 men from the 81st to the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles. All three of the O'Connells were wounded at the Somme in the first week of October 1916. Pte James Thomas O'Connell died of his wounds 12 Jan 1917. His two sons survived their wounds.
