Lt. Thompson was reported wounded in a Toronto Star article dated August 21, 1917. According to this report, Thompson had received a Military Cross [more likely this was a Military Medal] as a private and was "strongly recommended" for the D.C.M. See attached article.
Lt. Thompson went over with the Borden Motor Machine Gun Battery and won his commission on the field at the end of 1916.
