Further research is required to link the man remembered on this gravestone with an attestation. There are attestations available for two men with the name Arthur Kite. The best possible match is Arthur Ernest Kite, 769711, who was a Toronto resident when he enlisted in January 1916. Attestation.
Arthur Kite was buried at Prospect Cemetery, St. Clair Av. West, Toronto, Ont. A special Veterans' plot was set aside in this cemetery in 1917 to be used for returned soldiers. This was a project of the cemetery and the Great War Veterans' Association. The first interment in this plot was made on August 5th, 1917. (Toronto Star - Sept. 14, 1917).
A Cross of Sacrifice is central to the Veterans' plot at Prospect. This Cross was unveiled on Sunday June 4th, 1922. (Toronto Star - June 3, 1922).
