Former student of Victoria High School, Victoria. Served 2 years: 5th FCCE, Kingston, Ontario; 7 months, 77th Depot Battery, CFA. He was a student of mechanical engineering at time of enlistment.

Nov 22, 1918, 4 - Signaller Neil Ross McCannel, KIA Nov 6, s/o Mr & Mrs Donald S McCannel, Victoria. Educated here, enlisted 1917, gassed Aug 19, in convalescent camp until latter part of Oct. Had just turned 20. Another son Donald, KIA this year, and a sister has been nursing at the front for 18 months.
