The following was reported in the Toronto Star on August 31st, 1917:
Nursing Sister E. Rayside is expected home this week from England to take up her duties as superintendent of military hospitals in Canada.
First woman to receive an honorary degree from the University of Toronto, November 11th, 1919. This notice appeared in the Toronto Star on November 10th, 1919, pg. 9:
Miss Rayside, of Ottawa, is the guest of R. H. Cowley, 117 Farnham avenue. Miss Rayside is to have the degree of Master of Household Science conferred on her tomorrow at Toronto University, it being the first time in Canada that this honor has been conferred on any woman.
