'Bullet Joe' Simpson was Captain of the Allan Cup winning team from the 61st Battalion CEF before being sent to Europe. He served in France with the 43rd Cameron Highlanders, was wounded twice, decorated with the Military Medal, and reached the rank of Lieutenant. He played professional hockey from 1921 - 1931 in the WHL and then the NHL with the New York Americans. He was inducted in to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1962.
