Son of Elijah Lickers and Ellen Harriet Lickers (nee Owens, later John); younger brother of George Lickers (Service No. 1288769), Joseph Elijah 'Joe' Lickers (Service No. 210512) and David Andrew 'Andy' Lickers (Service No. 211087)
Remembered on the Grimsby, Ontario, War Memorial.
Mr. Lickers was in the Cadet Service for six years at the Mohawk Reserve
A group photo of the Lickers brothers and brother-in-law appeared in the Toronto Star on February 04, 1916. The caption was as follows:
HERE'S AN INDIAN FAMILY DOING ITS BIT.
Mrs. Alpheus John, formerly Mrs. Elijah Lickers, of Grimsby, and her three sons and son-in-law. The four men in khaki come originally from the Indian Reservation near Brantford, but have been working around Grimsby on fruit farms for several years. They are all privates in B Co., 98th Battalion, stationed at Grimsby. Mrs. John is the mother of twenty-two children, fourteen of whom are living. From left to right, standing: Geo. Adams (son-in-law), Andrew Lickers, Joe Lickers. Sitting--Mrs. Alpheus John, Joe's daughter, and Willie Lickers.
